Is Stefan Molyneux a dangerous cult leader
by slimboyfat ina guy on youtube who got popular spouting ideas on social and political issues, molyneux gained additional notoriety when he started encouraging people to cut off their natural families.
some followers took his advice seriously, and mums crying about the consequences have gone to the media to tell their story.
it's interesting how this resembles and also differs from jw shunning.

Do most ex JW's go politically left?
by Lightgrowsbrighter ini've found it interesting that- imho- most of the politically vocal ex-jw's at this website seem to lean left.
i'm personally pretty centered- right on some issues, left on others, but overall have a pretty cynical view of all political/religious leaders.
i find it somewhat ironic that people who leave such a dogmatic group like the witnesses become so politically dogmatic.

The older I get the more I think that there's a middle ground in most things and I don't like extremes of anything. -

Can everyone agree on an anti-Watchtower definition?
by WireRider ini would like to see a unified effort from those that have defected.
certainly there are exceptional, very legitimate, detailed experiences from a few.
what about the regulars that chose to leave?

Are you familiar with the No True Scotsman fallacy Wirerider?
The "no true Scotsman" fallacy is certainly alive and kicking when it comes to Islamic extremism. -

Do they still own 21 Clark Street "The Towers" building? I recall this was where most of the senior bethelites and GB were housed. -

Adele's new album....
by _Morpheus inadele's new album came out today.
so far i love it, although one of the songs feels a bit overwrought to me.
i find her to be at her best, as i always have, when she is singing only accompanied by a piano.

Any funny stories of when a"brother" giving a talk, said something "funny" or "questionable", and didn't even realize it?
by Dunedain inthere were always all types of speakers in the org.
myself, growing up a "witness", must have heard all types of talks, and given by all manner of speakers, especially on sundays, when almost every week we would get a "visiting" brother giving the public talk.. sometimes, you would have a "great" speaker, all fluent and animated.
other times we would get a comical speaker, one who would maybe purposelly get a few laughs outta the audience.

A few spring to mind. A brother got up to give a talk and when he adjusted the lectern height to put his books in the right position he didn't tighten it properly. As he began his talk he gripped it with both hands and it suddenly dropped to which he exclaimed "oops I've got a wobbly rectum".
A visiting speaker was giving a talk where the outline touched on horoscopes, he then pulled out the newspaper and read out every horoscope. There were complaints to his body of elders!
A local elder who wasn't the sharpest tool in the box gave the talk "a godly view of sex and marriage". It seemed that he wasn't entirely clear on the specifics of how procreation worked and got himself in a muddle. When describing the point where an embryo becomes a foetus be inexplicably termed it as when the "embryo becomes a fully full fully". News of the talk spread to those who weren't there on the day and those in neighbouring congregations and a number of copies were passed around for amusement value.
And of course in every congregation someone said orgasm instead of organism.
